Directions for House Fairy 3x5 Chore Card System

Delete the chorse that don't apply to your home and print the chores that do apply, on white card stock. There are blank cards for you to fill in jobs pertinent to your household.

Cut out the individual cards. (They the cards in a 3x5 card file box you keep them in a file box, you could have a divider in the box that reads Done, so your children can file a chore card behind that divider when a chore is completed.

Establish a time to do chores. Pick three or four chore cards accomplished and hold them face down. Let your children each pick one. Tell them how long the House Fairy says it should take to do the chore (times are suggested on the cards) then start the timer. Some children will take longer to accomplish a task than others. The time is not as important as the task getting done in the spirit of fun. You want chore time to be fun so don't put excessive pressure on your children.

Praise your children when the chore is completed and, if you wish, the House Fairy can leave something that night with a note mentioning how happy she is that they did their chores. Consider Good Behavior Points or a Good Time Ticket from as a surprise.
